I spent the weekend alternately printing and doing nothing. There was quite a lot of both, now that I think about it. I think I've finished the necessary dozen prints for the print exchange, and I've done some tinkering with another shaped plate. I'm hoping to do a proper edition of it before the final class. It's been a long day, after a long week. I spent most of the morning messing with gold pigments and transparent bases, trying to get the effect I wanted, and ended up just dusting metallic powder onto the wet ink after it was printed. Oh, the Gill Sans. If we're going to have a vast quantity of some typeface, why does it have to be Gill Sans? There's so much of it that the compartments threaten to overflow and become even more mixed up with one another than they are already. I ended up rearranging the layout of my tiny alphabet book and printing it again, this time with some rather jury-rigged crop marks included. It's much easier to cut the pages apart now, and in fact I've successfully bound one copy and sewn together the insides of a second one.
